Taking Family Photos

Family photos are dope. I have a family of my own and I take plenty of pictures of them. My kids were great subjects when I first started because like most kids, they don’t like to sit still. I’ve been privileged to have families as clients and take photos that will sit on their fireplace mantle, hang on their wall, or serve as desktop screen savers. When I take family photos, I like to set an atmosphere that is light and fun. This is especially key when the kids are younger because they have an internal time limit, which is why I like to capture all pics involving the kids first if I can. During one of my family shoots, I had a client with four kids and two of them were younger so I did their part of the shoot first and the pictures came out really good. I also like to keep the sessions within an hour and I already have a plan for how I want the shoot to flow.

If you are not a professional that's reading this, you can start taking family pictures with your phone until you get a camera. Just get everyone together and start taking pictures. As long as you have good lighting, you're good to go. This is all I have for now and happy shooting!

Later,

Jay
